Kundalini Yoga - Kundalini is the consciousness held in the physical body. It is more commonly known as “the sleeping serpent” located at the base of the spine. A more accurate interpretation is the “coiled hair of the beloved”. Kundalini Yoga (as taught by Yogi Bhajan) is a very dynamic and powerful yoga.
Known as the “Mother of all Yoga”, it encompasses Asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathing), Mantras (chanting/sound) and Mudras (hand positions). Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is also know a Kriya Yoga. This means that a specific series of one or more movements, breath or sounds will produce a specific result. This is to say that there are different kriyas for many specific effects ranging from physical, emotional and spiritual. Examples would be a kriya for the liver, or a kriya to release fear or a kriya align you healing energy.
Many of the kriyas in Kundalini yoga works specifically on the chakras (energy centers in the body), to open them and allow the energy to flow more strongly and fluidly through the body. This can bring about physical, mental and emotional healing as blocks are released. This also increases our awareness or consciousness and connection with our spiritual selves.
In our workshops we will be using Kundalini yoga to increase and clear the energy of the chakras to create a clear flow of energy with.
Meditation - During our workshops we will be using various types of meditation to help calm and centre us, to bring about a state of peace and balance. These meditations will include Osho Kundalini meditation, guided meditation, visualization, sound or mantras as well as silents.
